There are so many self tanners out there it is hard to know what works best, and many of us don't want to risk streaks and turning orange to find out.
Well thanks to Shauna Magrath and London Drugs you don't have to she has made herself the guinea pig over the past week, and today we get her results.
Her Favorite was Marcel wipes, they give natural results, easy to use and smells good!

The Red Carpet Part

Keira got her makeup touched up by The Beautyink Gallery and we enjoyed delicious canapes courtesy of our host, the Blue Water Care + Raw Bar. I was looking forward to another rosemary martini, like I had when I was a judge for the Grey Goose Arbiter of Cool competition but unfortunately no one there that night knew how to make it. Still, the wine from Mission Hill was flowing, the silent auction bids were rising, and the tunes from DJ Ocean were just right.

Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, Mirror
Who's the fairest of them all? You will be after a visit to BeautyInk.
We took an instructional lesson ($75/hr) at the BeautyInk Gallery where professional make-up artist Shauna Magrath—who's got an Emmy to her name and  worked on shows with stars like Charlize Theron and Jessica Alba on her CV—took us step-by-step through a new spring look. With no allegiance to a beauty counter, she gave us the scoop sans sale pressure on what high-end products are worth it and what discount drugstore buys are better.
We walked away with peepers that popped, the know-how to replicate it at home, and the dish on who's a doll to work with (that would be Meg Ryan).

The BeautyInk    Gallery

Have you ever wanted personal access to celebrity glamour?  Are you an active sports player that is constantly reapplying your make-up?  Would you like to play hard and look good at the same time?

The BeautyInk Gallery is Vancouver 's first exclusive make-up boutique, specializing in traditional make-up applications and effects, as well as permanent cosmetics and semi-permanent lashes.

Micro-pigmentation, also called "permanent make-up", creates long-lasting effects by inserting pigment into the dermal layer (beneath the top layer of the skin).  It is gaining in popularity due to its benefits to people with visual or physical impairments, pigmentation  disorders, hair loss, scars or people who just want to look their best without investing time putting on make-up.

The visionary behind The BeautyInk Gallery is Shauna Magrath, an Emmy honours, 15-year veteran of the film industry.  She has worked for the biggest motion picture companies in the entertainment industry, including MGM, Warner Bros, Paramount and Miramax.  Her career has earned her over 40 credits to her name and she has worked with top celebrities, including Meg Ryan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jessica Alba and Hilary Duff.  One of her more recent credits, Tin Man, has been nominated in several Emmy categories.

The launch of The BeautyInk Gallery means that services once available exclusively to Hollywood are now available to the public in Vancouver.  Shauna introduces permanent make-up and specialty make-ups to the mainstream.  "There are services for every taste and need, including those that require specialized knowledge, such as clients that suffer from alopecia, cancer and the disabled.  My goal is to help them regain their self-esteem."

Shauna's passion and mastery with traditional make-up and techniques to the stars is now combined with permanent make-up for the everyday man or woman.  "I have found my purpose in life—to combine my gift of make-up artistry with my passion for helping men and women feel better about themselves."

Wink Wonders:

 Permanent Eyelash Extensions

December 18th, 2008

Yesterday while loading up on stocking stuffer goodies, I overheard women at the cosmetics counter having a conversation about what product they absolutely cannot live without. All women positioned mascara at the top of their list. They talked about the importance of luscious lashes — how they make you feel more confident, and appear bright, awake, and alert looking.

CRAVE agrees! So we asked Shauna Magrath, foundress of The BeautyInk Gallery in Vancouver, BC to recommend her favorite mascara to us, so that we could pass it along to you. She gave us a fab piece of advice — permanent lash extensions! Imagine waking up beautiful with long, sensual lashes your friends will fawn over, sans gunky-goo! You can live your life looking glamorous 24/7. You can play them down by day or dress them up by curling them and adding a little mascara at night.

Shauna told us they look completely natural and only require a fill similar to your nails, every four weeks. Fills take about an hour and cost only $50. She warned us that permanent lash extensions are addicting because your eyes will have never looked BETTER!

Permanent lash extensions feel comfortable and natural just like your own eyelashes. They are weather-proof and waterproof (that's right — no more clumped mascara!).

Permanent Makeup For Thinning Eyebrows

October, 23, 2008.

Last week ,I spent a few hours with Shauna Magrath, a certified micro-pigmentation artist. She and I worked together in the 90's on many films such as X files, Blade Trinity II, and The Glass Cockpit. She has applied makeup to many actors including, Hillary Duff, Meg Ryan, Gillian Anderson, Dominic Purcell, Jensen Ackels and David Duchovny.
Shauna has expanded her talents to the real world, and has set up a makeup service boutique called the Beauty Ink Gallery in the South Granville Lofts in Vancouver, for
Micro-Pigmentation or otherwise known as Permanent Tattoo Makeup. This service provides women and men, with the option of having there eyes, brows, lips permanently enhanced. Shauna uses only Organic and Inorganic pigment colors, that last 5 - 10 years. There is no Iron Oxide in her colors, so there is less chance for the color to change with time. The color will fade if it is continually exposed to the sun. Colors that are made with iron oxide will eventually change from black to blue, otherwise known as blue brows.
I let Shauna fill and reshape my thin, short eyebrows with a pigment color (that she custom mixed), to a light, warm brown. My brows look fantastic!
The idea of
Permanent Tattoo Makeup, Micro-Pigmentation, is to enhance your facial features, not to make your face look like it has a lot of makeup on.
No Drag Queen Looks! Please!
Corrective makeup can be done as well. Stretch marks can be diminished and white sun spots can be filled in. Women that have gone thru breast surgery, can have a new areola tattooed on. This is definitely the new wave of makeup for the busy mom, the full time career woman, or for those who have aging eyesight.

Many celebrities have Permanent Tattoo Makeup: Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, Drew Barrymore, Victoria Beckham, Jessica Alba, Halle Barry, Beyonce, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Keifer Sutherland, Robert Downey Jr., Bruce Willis.

Brings a New Face to  Permanent Cosmetics

Shauna is certified by the Canadian Micro-Pigmentation Centre in Toronto and is a Member of the Society of Permanent Make-up Cosmetic Professionals. She individualizes each service with her knowledge and experience in custom colour applications

On Saturday, August 23, 2008, The BeautyInk Gallery will hold its grand opening with sponsorship by Miller Springs Water Company. The launch will begin with an open house for the general public from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. The evening will kick off with a V.I.P event by invitation only from 8:00 pm on wards and will feature D.J.
